Hey there friends! Daniel West here with the September 2020 Reveal. Whimsy takes the spotlight this month. A fabulous artist and illustrator from Australia, Sandra Herrgott, drew all of the Whimsy World stamp sets this month. You have to see her beautiful style and art on display over on Facebook. I have also created a video tutorial on watercoloring some images from this reveal on YouTube.
For now, though, please focus!! I have a project to share with you, using the Fear Not Rose Stamp Set. I did use some of the same watercolor techniques to create this little wall hanging.
Here's a list of supplies I used for this project:
Fear Not Rose Stamp Set
Fear Not Rose Dies
Gansai Tambi Watercolors
Legion Cold Press Watercolor Paper
Hero Arts Intens-ified Black Ink
Silver Brush Black Velvet Watercolor Brushes
Double-sided Foam Tape
Pitch Black Cardstock
Sprout Cardstock
Double-sided Adhesive Sheet
White Gel Pen
Gemini Junior Die Cutting Machine
To begin, I stamped the rose, butterfly and sentiment onto the watercolor paper with waterproof ink. Then, following the process I showed in the video tutorial, I watercolored the image, section by section with a deep pink and bright yellow-green palette.
Next, I cut a square around the stamping measuring about 5 inches and partially die-cut the rose image with its coordinating die. This leaves the floral section hanging out a little bit from the rest.
Then, with some foam tape, I popped up the image onto some coordinating green card stock leaving a 3/4 inch border around the watercolor center. I finished off the matting process with some cover weight black card stock, measuring 8 x 8 inches.
I hope you enjoyed this little project! I will be framing it and putting it up in my studio. And I will reference it when anxiety creeps in to wreck my day -- Fear not! The Lord is with thee, Daniel!
Beautiful and inspiring!
Love these scripture sets. Thanks for sharing your beginner watercolor tips in the video.
